7 Quick Takes: Take 16 (A BIG sigh of RELIEF!!)

Happy Friday, y'all!!  I am sitting here with my hubby as he works on his laptop and I on mine and we were just discussing the good moods we both find ourselves in!  I will explain why that is besides the fact that it's a beautiful day outside with the sun shining!

Many of you know this, and many of you do not, but last Friday (the day after my surgery) we had a little scare when I began to leak what we felt was a substantial amount of fluid.  We ended up back at Oakwood where they preliminarily thought I was leaking amniotic fluid.  You can imagine the fear and dread that ensued.  We also were able to get no more answers because it was the weekend. (Our only gripe with Oakwood Hospital so far...)  Anyways, come Monday morning, we were back at the doctors (multiple doctors and multiple ultrasounds) and from what everyone can see it didn't appear that I was leaking fluid and that the baby was doing fine! (BIG sigh of relief....)  We went back this morning and everyone continues to look good.  We are hoping this was just a little bump in the road and my doctor promises to buy me a drink when I deliver a healthy baby in just under 6 more months.  In the meantime, lots of rest, lots of ultrasounds, and lots of prayers...

When above drama ensued we were out at my parents' place near Jackson looking forward to celebrating Father's Day with my dad and Tom.  Needless to say those plans were quickly put on hold.  We are having a redo tonight!  I felt really bad because my husband's birthday plans also got put on hold when I was on bed rest during my last pregnancy.  Poor guy!  Next year we are really going to have to have some big celebrations!!  All he wanted for Father's Day was a wheelbarrow which happens to still be at the store.  He is a patient man, thankfully.

Although my love for fruit these days hasn't dwindled, the craving this week BIG TIME is Doritos!  In fact, I panicked a little when my husband decided to help himself to MY bag for lunch today!  Apparently he doesn't know the rules!

Every Friday is our trash day.  It makes me feel proud that each week we only throw out about 1 large bag of garbage.  What REALLY makes me feel proud is that our recycling bin is almost always full to the brim.  I will be honest when I say I am not always in the "green" frame of mind, but when I recycle I do feel like I am doing my part in my small corner of the world.

Wednesday was a really bad day for me...just one of those bump in the high risk pregnancy road kind of days.  One reason I was really sad is that my doctors suggested we cancel our highly anticipated vacation to Mackinac Island.  They would prefer I stay local for the next bit.  Now, I totally understand their reasoning and quite frankly I don't like being too far away from them these days either, but I am REALLY BUMMED.  :(

In an effort to make the best of the situation, we are trying to find something to do for our anniversary that it is a little more local.  Anyone have any ideas that we could look into that are an hour or less away from Dearborn?  We are having trouble thinking of something.  Please keep in my that I have limited activity levels so no hiking or water parks.  We would love something near water perhaps?  Anyways, any suggestions you have will be appreciated!

My husband and I are sitting here having a burping contest...taking advantage of those extra gassy bellies you get when you are pregnant!  So far I am winning.. :)

7 Quick Takes: Take 15

Let's just get straight to it.....

Today I have been married to my husband for 11 months.  That means one month from now we will be celebrating a year of marital bliss! (Well, mostly bliss...)  We decided to celebrate by returning to Mackinac Island where we went on our first vacation together.   We are looking forward to some time away to refuel and recharge.

I am currently in love with the group Fun.  In fact I can't get enough of this song!  I love the Irish twist to it and inspirational lyrics.  It's probably been out for awhile, but oh well!  I just recently fell in love with it!

I survived my little procedure yesterday at the hospital.  It seems that Baby Bauer is much more secure now that these little stitches are in.  Once again, we had a wonderful experience at Oakwood Hospital and the nurses and doctors were all wonderful and made us feel comfortable in their care.  There was one little hiccup, but nothing major.  I got to experience my first spinal, which is an out of body experience.  Very strange.  And my oh my, that operating room was FREEZING!!!!  They had the most wonderful contraption when I got out.  This little blanket that blows up and fills with hot air.  I would love one of those puppies for home during the winter months. (When I am not pregnant that is...cause God knows staying warm isn't normally my problem with a baby cooking inside.)  Tom and I are relieved this part of the journey is done and we can breathe a little easier knowing our baby is a little more secure.

I have decided to dye my hair.  Medium Auburn is the color of choice.  Red heads have more fun apparently.  I need a change so what the heck!  There's only so much you can do with short hair, so why not add a fun color!

Our cat has definitely figured out that mama is pregnant again.  Anytime I nap or sleep, she has to come and lay right with me, which is not the normal for her.  I do have to say though that she is a bit of a bed hog at times.  It's funny how animals have a sense of such things.  She is my little side kick these days.

This is the weekend we celebrate the dads in our life!  I have to say I have one of the best dads out there!  He was definitely the first guy in my life.  I have learned so much from him in my 34 years on this planet.  Once we realized that in most ways we are exactly the same we learned to be best buds.  My dad is smart, can fix almost anything in this planet, he's funny, and despite his gruff exterior he's got a heart of gold.  I love you dad!

The second "dad" in my life is my dear hubby.  Although we don't have a little baby to hold in our arms right now, through these two pregnancies I have seen the kind of dad he is going to be.  My husband is gentle, attentive, selfless, and the most loving man I know.  The way he cares for me now assures me that our kids are going to be beyond blessed!  I love you, honey!

I must also give a shout out to my brother, Eric.  When I look at my niece and nephew and see the beautiful kids they have become.  Their great senses of humor, big smiles, creativity, laughter, and hugs reminds me that they too must have a  pretty great dad at home.  Keep up the great work, big brother!

Looking forward to spending some time relaxing with my 2 favorite men this weekend out at my parents place.  Hoping for some time in the sun and relaxing on the boat. It's summer! :)  Can't wait to make many happy memories!

7 Quick Takes: Take 14

Whew! It's been a busy week for this mama in the making! I can't believe it's already Friday!  My husband is working from home today and I am working from home most of today too...with a little lunch date thrown in there of course.  ;)  A fun week makes for a messy house!  On to my 7 Quick Takes....

***1***

Yesterday, I texted my doctor (one of the benefits of being high risk...) after evaluating that there was something the Bauer family really needed....a VACATION! My husband works his butt off both daily at his job for 9+ hours then comes home and picks up a lot of slack for his wife on restrictions.  It's been a crazy year and so I texted my doctor to see if we could get approval to go away on a little vacation in July!  She said YES!! :) (Just have to make sure I can cancel if necessary....)  So we are planning a little Michigan get away!  I can't wait.  My husband deserves every minute of this vacation!

Speaking of vacation, we thought it would be appropriate to go away over our FIRST anniversary! I have to start by telling a cute story about my husband.  Each year around this time, our church has a special Mass to honor couples that are celebrating milestone anniversaries that year.  (5 year increments)  So a few weeks ago when they mentioned this in the announcements, my husband leaned over to me and said "We should put our names in."  I, of course,  laughed out loud because one year isn't really that spectacular as far as marriages go! But, in some cases he is right!  Because it's been a helluva first year for us!  We've beat some pretty big statistics as far as divorce rates go among couples who have lost a child.  I am happy to report we are happier than ever!  We are surviving, not one, but 2 pregnancies!  Both high risk! On top of all the regular adjustments you have moving in together, I'd say this is definitely a year to be celebrated! So on July 14, when Tom and I are on our little vacation, I think we will drink (alcohol free for me) to a job well done! (Please excuse way too many exclamation points in this post...I guess I am excited about our marriage!!!!)

Speaking of high risk pregnancies, as you all know, I lost my son this past December due to an "incompetent cervix."  So this time around my doctors are doing all they can to make my cervix competent.  This includes some meds and a procedure called a cerclage.  The doctor will sew up my cervix (think of a cinch strap on a purse) which will keep my cervix from opening prematurely as it did the last pregnancy.  I have an 85-90% chance of a successful pregnancy!  I have this procedure done this coming Thursday.  Please if you would, say a little prayer that this goes as simply and as smoothly as everyone tells me it will.  I would be lying if I didn't say I was a little anxious about it....especially the spinal needed.

My parents are back in town for the summer which is wonderful!  They had first thought they were going to sell their place out near Grass Lake, but have since decided to keep it!  Tom and I are excited because we really do enjoy visiting them out there.  Our family has made a lot of special memories there and we are looking forward to many more to come!

Most of my friends have school aged children so I don't need to tell you that May was a busy month for them!  I was starting to get quite lonely because I didn't see many of them!  Well this week things have changed.  I saw so many of my good friends this week!  I can't tell you how much I need each and everyone of my friends.  They mean the world to me and my world is better because of them!! I have enjoyed each and every minute I have had with them this week.  You girls rock!!! XOXOXO

Having a busy week visiting with friends has made for one messy house!  Dishes, laundry, and a mail stack on the kitchen table.Needless to say, once I get back home today from a visit with 2 dear friends, it's time to take care of business.  Currently I am waiting for the clothes in the dryer to finish so I have pants to wear out.  I figured all of you would appreciate that.

I am happy to report that coffee (decaf of course!) has returned to my normal morning routine!  Oh how I missed my cup of joe! Nothing like a nice warm mug of coffee to start your morning off on the right foot!

Have a great week people!! :)
